About Me

Greetings! Welcome to the part of this blog where I say something about myself!

The basics are that my name’s Geoff, that I’m a Brit living in Texas, that I’m married to one lovely wife and that we have three lovely kids. I’m a follower of Jesus and I try to take it seriously, and that colours most of what I write.

I have an interest in history, particularly the pre-gunpowder era, and I sometimes semi-jokingly describe myself as the soul of a Mediæval knight trapped in the body and mind of a 21st-Century nerd.

Over the course of my life I’ve been student, scientist, poet, scholar, artist, missionary, son, father, teacher and now construction worker. Not all of those have been paid jobs.

Symbolic thinking comes naturally to me, so if you are uncomfortable with metaphor you may be in the wrong place. However, I balance this with a desire to be understood, so I can also sometimes get pedantic and didactic. You have been warned.

I also have a love for the unusual, and I’m told I make connections that other people frequently don’t.

Thanks for tagging along for the ride. Please sit back and enjoy, and fasten your seat belts. There may be unexpected turns ahead.

About commenting, I have only one thing to say:

I’m pretty thick-skinned. Bring it on. About the only things that will get your comment deleted are irrelevance to the subject at hand and meanness to another commentator.

Peace,

Geoff

    • Hi Julie! Usually I use 2 “f”s, but one is close enough. It’d be lovely to see you all some time. I’m enjoying reading your poetry. Strangely I haven’t written very much myself recently. Getting married took most of the angst that drove my poetic impulse away. 🙂

  2. Great to meet you! Thanks for checking out my blog. I’m glad you enjoyed it. I appreciate your witty writing and look forward to reading more! Most importantly, it’s always encouraging to connect with fellow Christ followers. 😉
